What's new in Tymeslot 1.1

Tymeslot 1.1 is the first big feature release since launch. Until now the booking page did one thing well: it picked a time. It can now do more before the meeting starts: ask what you need to know, take payment, and tell your team it happened. Here is what landed.

On the managed service, custom questions, payments and Slack notifications are part of the Pro plan. Self-hosted instances include all of them.

Ask the right questions up front

A time on the calendar is rarely all you need. You want to know what the call is about, which account someone is on, what they have already tried, whether they need anything sent ahead. That used to be an email thread running alongside the booking, sometimes longer than the meeting itself.

Now you can add your own questions to any meeting type. There are ten kinds to choose from, including short text, single and multiple choice, yes or no, a phone number, a date, and a note the booker has to acknowledge. People answer while they book, and the answers travel with the booking into the confirmation email and the calendar invite. Mark the ones that matter as required and leave the rest optional. You walk into the meeting knowing what it is about and what to prepare, without the back-and-forth beforehand.

Get paid when someone books

We had wanted this one for a long time. You can now take payment at the moment of booking through Stripe Checkout. After picking a time, the booker pays on a Stripe-hosted page, and the booking is confirmed as soon as the payment goes through. A paid consultation, a lesson or a paid intro call is booked and paid for in one go, so there is no invoice to write afterwards and no awkward reminder to send when it goes unpaid.

On the managed service, you connect your Stripe account from the dashboard. If you self-host, payments are off by default: you register your instance as a Stripe Connect platform, add your Stripe keys, and switch the feature on with one environment variable. The money goes to your own Stripe account. Either way, you see a confirmed, paid booking land on your dashboard.

Zoom meetings, created automatically

Zoom joins the video integrations. Connect it once and Tymeslot creates a new Zoom meeting for every booking, then puts the join link in the calendar invite and the confirmation email, the same way it already does for Google Meet and Microsoft Teams. Each call gets its own meeting, so back-to-back calls never share a personal room.

It is the kind of automation you stop noticing. The link is always there, in the place the other person expects it.

A booking lands in Slack

Tymeslot can now post to Slack when a meeting is booked, cancelled, or rescheduled. Point it at a channel and your team sees new bookings where they already spend the day, instead of on a dashboard nobody remembers to open. For a sales team it is a live feed of demos coming in; for a support rota it is a heads-up before the call appears on a calendar.

Connect Slack

Smaller things you will notice

The meeting-type editor now saves as you go, with a status line in place of a save button you had to remember. The embedded booking widget sizes itself more reliably and gained a column layout that fills whatever width its container gives it. And the Quill and Rhythm booking pages are quicker to move through, with fewer steps between landing on the page and having a time held.

The rest of the changes are on the changelog. If there is something you wish Tymeslot did, tell us: a good deal of this release came from people who did.
